Any Fans of "The Doors" ?

This may not be news but it was to me so I thought I'd share.  Six CD boxed set from the final four live shows recorded January 17 & 18 1970.

Also in an interview with Ray Manzarek I discovered there is a new documentary film out called "When You're Strange" with all original footage from the band's LA vaults.  It includes some scenes from the film HWY: An American Pastoral that Jim Morrison had shot in 35 mm format.  Opened in theaters on 4/9/2010.

Thanks for the info.  One of my favorites from the 60s.  The Perception DVD-A box set is really nice.

Saw them live on Ed Sullivan Show for the first time, I always thiught it was odd how Jim sang with his eyes closed. They were my all-time fav.

As a youngin oh yeah, Now once in while for some memories. One of the tightest focused rock bands of all times IMO. Morrisons voice was made for rock. Died way to young.

They are topshelf, IMHO
As mentioned earlier the dvda/cd box set is great.
That Hires is about as good as those masters will allow I suspect and redbook is worlds ahead of the original cd releases. Those turned me off in upgrading from vinyl for years.

Oh yeah! The thing is I dumped my vinyl a few years ago and with it went The Doors. I've been buying the reissues over the last few months. Still great stuff.

I bought the Doors 1st album (in mono) when I was 15 and never looked back. I remember putting two small dabs of paint on Robbie Kreiger's eyes on the album cover. In 1969 I saw them live in Toronto along with the Plastic Ono Band, Chuck Berry and a bunch of other bands. Towards the end of high school, we would always play L.A. Woman at the end of a party; that was the cue for everyone to clear out! Sometimes, the six Doors studio albums would be played over and over agin at parties where no other albums would see the light of day on the turntable. Great for us Doors fans but torture for their detractors. One of my friends (now deceased) summed up the Doors music as controlled aggression.

Out here on the perimeter, there are no stars.

Big Doors fan here too.

I've got a bunch of their albums on original vinyl.  The CDs I have don't sound too good.  I took a chance on the Very Best of the Doors Re-mastered CD.  It sounds excellent.

The best I've heard them sound by far is a German pressed re-issue of LA Woman on vinyl i picked up from Music Direct.  After hearing it I'd have bought some of their others, but either LA Woman was the only one they did or it was the last one and the rest sold out.

I haven't heard the preception stuff.  I've got pretty much everything they've released in one form or another.  The price of it is a bit steep.

Edit - checking Music Direct's site, they have a few import Doors vinyl albums.  I wonder if they're the same as my LA Woman album?  A phone call tomorrow is my top priority.
