Lip Sync Issues......
« on: 12 Apr 2010, 12:45 pm »
My Panasonic DMP-BD85 seems to have audio/video sync issues.

The audio is suffering from a barely noticeable delay. The player has audio adjust, but in delay only which makes the situation worse. What I need is an audio advance of a micro-second or two.

This is worse on some DVD's and Bluray's than on others. Sometimes the audio/video sync is fine. Sometimes the audio delay is bothersome.

The video is over HDMI, and the audio is optical cable. My NAD pre/pro is not HDMI friendly!

Any suggestions?

Have you used other BDP's?  I suspect the problem is not with the Panasonic but with audio and video leaving taking different paths.  If your NAD has component in/out you might try that for video.  Any difference in picture quality may or may not be noticeable.  You could also try a different audio connection like coaxial to see if it would make any difference.  I have no reason really to believe it would but to eliminate an annoying problem and prolong expense of preamp upgrade anything is worth a try, right :)

Possible solutions are to change cables, (check if they are in good conditions) update the firmware if possible. I also heard about some lip sync correction devices, check:
