Hi,

Does anybody know if the digital OUT (optical) of the XR45 outputs the actual source being played.  

If the source is Dolby Digital, does it decode it and sends only the 2 front channels or the whole 5.1 dolby digital stream?

I've been curious about this as well, but haven't had a chance to test it. I strongly suspect that the output will simply copy the active input since the spdif receiver used (AKM 4114) has an output for the current spdif stream.

I might get a chance to try this over the weekend - I'll report back if I do.

If this is its the same as the UK version XR45 I have then the answer is yes what comes in goes out on the SPDIF
