I just bought a new tool!!!!!

I have done lots of work for people in the area, helping them archive music/voice or anything analog onto CDs. The last guy I helped was a Vietnam vet who had a buddy that made tapes about stories from Vietnam. Very interesting and he was very happy that I could do the service for him (which I was very honored to do).

But today I decided to get some new equipment as my old Philips CDR 765 is on it's last leg, my Sony ES cassette deck has motor problems and it is just a general hit and miss if I can get all this old stuff to work. So I went searching and found what seems to be the perfect product for my needs. It's a Tascam CD and cassette recorder combo, that can record CDs, cassettes, Copy from CD to cassette, copy from cassette to CD and even has RIAA inputs to directly transfer LPs to either CD or cassette.

This is the unit. It will be here on about Wednesday. So if any of you have the need, I now have the tools to get the job done.

I've wanted one of these myself for quite awhile.

Kudos to Ya, Bro !!   :dance::dance::dance:

  I'm jealous.

PS- where'd you buy from ?? ....I have looked at Musicians Friend, Am Musical Supply, etc looking for the best price. They have been on sale lately, as I epxect a new model will come out or they are discontinuing this one.

I got it from American Musical Suppy. I have bought from them before and have always been treated well. I also bought a Tascam DA-30 MKII DAT deck years ago. No body uses them anymore, but it has come in handy for me when I have been called upon to do mastering from multi-track recordings and it also works great for live recording.

That's sweet Wayner.  I've wanted one for years.  I had no idea that it had an RIAA input.

I just got the unit today and boy, am I impressed. Tascam has always made quality products and this one seems to be right in line with the other 2 Tascam products I have. The unit is very heavy, function controls laid out in a sane manner and this one takes computer CD-Rs, not just "music" CD-Rs. It also has a nifty fade in/fade out function that I need to get a handle on. So far, if you are looking for a stand alone CD recorder to archive LPs, or cassettes, or what ever, this might be a great unit for you. I also have my computer hooked up to the digital inputs to the CD recorder via a nifty USB to S/FDIF box, thanks to DigitalLinks. Works great.

CD-Rs have a royalty fee paid to the music industry (it's a tax).

The bastards.
