My (highly fallible) recollection is that the Maelstrom came with either dual 8-ohm voice coils, or dual 4-ohm voice coils.
If you have dual 8-ohm voice coils, wire them in parallel to get 4 ohms. The red wire from your plate amp goes to both of the + inputs on the sub, and the black wire from your plate amp goes to both of the - inputs on the sub.
If you have dual 4-ohm voice coils, wire them in series to get 8 ohms (the alternative is in parallel, but that would give you a 2-ohm load and cook your amp). The red wire goes to a + input. Then use a jumper wire to connect the - input next to where the red wire is to the other + input. Then the black wire goes to the other - input.
If you don't know, wire them in series for now. At least that way you won't cook your amp.
