Last LPs by favorite bands that were awful......

I have lots of almost complete sets of LPs from bands I really like. I've been on the Canadian rock band thing lately, trying to finish my collect of a band called FM. Surprisingly, there are lots of great bands that have come out of that sparsely populated country. Other bands that I have are Klaatu, Rush, SAGA and The Guess Who for a few examples.

The latest disappointment from the band FM was called "Tonight". It was recorded in 1987 and well, it's just plane awful. I get the feeling that some record company held a gun to their heads and told them to produce or else, so they did. No heart or sole into it at all. Over produced, under performed and in general, one of the worst LPs I've listened to in some time, only to be over shadowed by a band called Soft Cell.

I felt this way with the last Yes LP called Magnification. That was by far and wide, the worst LP that band ever made, ever.

So I wonder how many of  you have run into the same thing and what was the band and it's downfall LP?

That's kind of it.  Usually at the end of a contract, when a band is switching labels, they put something pretty lackluster out because they don't care any more...

CCR. Pendulum kinda sucked. Interestingly, John Fogerty wanted everyone to write songs because he was tired of being accused of being the supreme leader (at least that's how I remember the story).

But what a fantastic run otherwise!

And the Doors Other Voices, interesting, but what can you say without Jim Morrison? Even the boxed reissue (which I have on vinyl) doesn't have that last album.

Hey Wayner, how about a Canadian thread? New Pornographers, Sloan...

I fell for it with Metallica several times...

The first 4 were great.  A lot of people loved the Black album, but I never warmed up to it too much.  I didn't hate, but I thought it was easily their worst.  Load came out and I remember thinking "Load of crap" followed by Reload, which I bought thinking it couldn't get worse than Load.  I was proven wrong.

St Anger came out and I waited for a few reviews before buying it. A bunch of them said it a return to thier old music.  It's probably the worst album I've ever bought.  Talk about a coaster CD.

I made sure I heard the entire Death Magnetic CD before buying it.  It's a very good album, but not on par with their first four.  Not really sure anything will be though.

Is it just me, or has their not been a new band who came along and changed everything in the last 15 or so years?  The last rock movement that meant anything was the Seattle grunge movement IMO.

Maybe I'm getting old, even though I'm only 33.  Every decade had some great rock bands/musicians - the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's all have their standouts.  Anyone new standout in the 2000 decade?

The music scene has been in the toilet for years, unless rap/hiphop  is your bag which is the case for most here
Neil Young wanted out of that Geffen contract in a bad way.I believe he had to put out two more records to fulfill his contract, the last two records on that label were laughable,at least I took it as a joke and I'm a huge Neil fan.
