jcmusic,

We weren't bickering. Just a harmless exchange of dry humor. Sorry for the distraction. I'm cool with the Almarro if it's something that you are considering. But that's not what the original post was about.

I think the original post is about moving from a 300B amp to a 45 in hopes of getting better sound quality for less power. That's what caught my attention anyway.

Did I get that part wrong? Sorry if I did. Sincerely.

I took the time to read the 6moons review of the Yamamoto amp. They peg it as a "modern" sounding amplifier, so maybe it does sound closer to a single ended pentode amp (or solid state amp) than a single ended 300B. I haven't heard it so I can't say. Maybe someone here can comment.

I don't know if "modern sounding" is the direction you want to go. I know that I don't. (That's just a personal preference comment, not an insult.  :) )

That's correct you got it right, I was not ever considering the Almarro. The two that keep coming up or the Yammy and Jeff Korneff's, I was hoping to get a direct compairison but, if not I will do the best I can with what info I have thanks. No harm done.

One more thing they say the Yammy sounds more like a modern amp, compaired to what? A vintage sounding amp?

Yes, I think so. Modern, meaning NOT sounding pleasant like a Western Electric 300B. Lots of jump factor and blatant clarity if there is such a thing. That's how I understand their definition of "modern sound" anyway. You might want to read it for yourself. That and their review on different 300Bs. I like the pictures.  :D

(I struggled to get a B minus in English. )
