Welcome to audiocircle and the RWA forum.

If you are using your computer's USB output to feed your Isabellina, then
the the sampling rate should be 44.1k or 48k.

I'm not very familiar using foobar, but I have been able to play high res files through iTunes and I believe they are automatically converted to 16/44.1 and play fine.

guess I have to get a usb to digital converter capable of 24bit/192kHz output to the isabellina

i understand isabellina will still use only 16bit

anybody has good experience playing hd music with such converter on the isabellina

I'm an Isabella/Isabellina owner and I've had good results with both the Empirical Audio OffRamp 3 with the BPT power supply and also the M2Tech Hiface.  The Isabellina will truncate 24 bits to 16 bits, but will go all the way to 192 khz.

Hi alamakazam,

I found that the Isabellina does not like if you switch sampling rates on the fly.  So if you switch from 96k to 192k, see if it works if you turn off the unit and then turn it back on when you are outputting 192k.  Hopefully it will sync.  I'm not familiar with the musiland monitor USD 01.

192k playback has been confirmed with a Lynx AES16 SRC.

Has anyone here tried out the new Pure Audio software from Channel D?  Sounds like it could really be promising for those of us that currently use Mac iTunes USB to feed Isabella DAC, even if you don't listen to many HD files.  I'm gonna try it if I ever get any time... maybe this weekend?  Lemme know!

As a follow-up, I downloaded the 15 day trial of Channel D's Pure Audio software.... very cool.  It runs in the background of iTunes.  You interact with iTunes, but iTunes is no longer in control of the digital stream to you DAC; it only serves as the database and user control interface.  Bass articulation and three dimensionality were both noticeably improved immediately.  I haven't played with changing the sampling/upsampling rates yet, but this is a no-brainer upgrade to anyone using iTunes/Mac for your source (not sure about PCs though).  Just make sure to turn on the Isabella DAC AFTER the software is running, otherwise you just have to turn off and on again the DAC.

I've had Amarra Mini and Pure Music's big brother (Pure Vinyl) for several months - I prefer PV most of the time, Amarra is too polite in the top end in my setup.

You can trial both of them pre-purchase of course.
