You are not a true Amazon junkie if you don't subscribe to Amazon Prime.

The problem does not reside with only used CDs but almost everything else, especially items that people tend to use once, load up once and watch once.  I have refrained from purchasing used DVDs from Amazon due to Netflix....for the same price of one item, you can watch like 8 DVDs.  Used Cds, it depends of the artist.

Affiliated is spelled correctly, but "junky" isn't.  Ed, you're an Amazon j-u-n-k-i-e!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have been buying used CD's from them for awhile.  Because of their large selection of used, I can almost always find the album I want (very hard to do elsewhere as I'm mostly buying Jazz), but I sometimes have to wait to find a copy for the price I want.

The upside is that you don't have to bundle a certain number of discs together to make a purchase.  But since I'm paying $3 shipping per CD, I only want to spend $1 - $3 for the CD itself, to end up with what I consider a good deal.

For whatever reason, I've had a bit of a problem with Amazon used cd sellers misrepresenting the condition of their discs. I buy many more used discs from Half.com, never had a problem of consequence from sellers there (knock on wood.) If you're into classical music, check out berkshirerecordoutlet.com. They're a great place to get deeply discounted new classical discs.

They have a huge selection, but I have been less than impressed with the amount of time it takes for them to get the CD's to me.  I don't recommend pre-ordering anything from them, as they won't send the order until the day of release, unlike many other retail websites that time it so you receive the order the day of the release.

Amazon guarantees release day delivery on games for 3 bucks.  I don't know about cds though.  I have never had a problem with the condition of a cd if it says good it is usually really good.  I got one cd that still smelled like new plastic.  I'll check half and berkshire for classical.

Hi Guys,

Try living in Australia.  There are slim pickings for the cd's that I want to purchase.  I usually have to pay $25 plus per cd.

With the high value of the aussie dollar I've been purchasing from amazon and I've just completed my latest transaction.  Including shipping to Australia each secondhand cd has cost me $11 approximately.

Regards

Rod

ps i'll give half.com a go.

I prefer half.com for used and Amazon for new cds. It's the shipping time that seems better with half. Maybe I'll retry amazon.

I fully agree. Shipping is must faster on Half. Plus I had some problems with used cds on Amazon...so far so good with Half. When buying new I compare the price between Amazon and Half and the cheapest always wins (I factor in free shipping from Amazon).

Now that the secret is out.... Yeah, I buy 75% of my music from Amazon and likely 75% of that is used (therefore private sellers or non-Amazon stores). Yes there was that one time when they sent the jewel case with art and no CD, money was refunded. A couple of times the condition was one rating below what they listed but ripped into iTunes fine. This is based on buying over a hundred CDs.

There have been times that I had to disable "One Click" purchase button! It's back on now. There always is he Amazon Wish list, to let that impulse buy marinate.
