They are great cable.  To me, they are comparable to Audience AU24 (old model) in sonic qualities.

I do not really care for any Monster products, but.....

Go with your initial instinct.  The company is the gold standard of corporations that practice shotgun litigation against other companies that often don't have equal resources to defend themselves against frivolous lawsuits.
 
There are plenty of other cable companies you can do business with that don't engage in legal bullying.
