WTB:Grover Huffman IC's - Again!
« on: 29 Mar 2010, 07:17 pm »
I'm still looking for at least 4 Grover IC's for my headphone amp,  TT, cassette deck and second cdp. Newer versions preferred but not essential.
1m lengths for 3 but I need at least one 1.5m or longer for my TT.

Edit: I now need a 2m length, preferable an SX version.

Grover IC's are one of the most cost effective IC's made, why don't you simply buy new?   I doubt you'll save all that much by looking for used Grover IC's plus Grover offers a $50 trade-in upgrade offer with his continually improving IC's so for $50, you'll always have his best available IC. $200 for a 1M set of quality multi-ribbon IC's are about as cost effective as it gets IMHO.  :thumb:

True Robin but I've just bought new speaker cables and Sx IC's from Grover for my main sources, so add that to recent purchases of a Havana DAC , Salk SongTowers, an Assemblage ST-40 amp, a new Mapletree Audio Ultra 4SE, M2tech HiFace, Acer netbook, Samsung HDD's etc.  the result is that my pocketbook is "ouching".
I figure that if I can get older GH IC's for the older sources then I can upgrade when my finances recover and the WAF cools down a bit...(also I'm looking for a headphone rig.... :green:)

  I'm surprised you're still married with all that new gear.  :duh:  Maybe Grover would give you a markdown on a multiple cable order,,, happens all the time. Then again you might have had a better chance with that before Affordable Audio's most recent review if Grover's cabling. Imagine he doesn't need the business right now.  8)

I'm looking for a used Grover Huffman 5' power cord myself for a new Mhdt Havana Dac so best wishes with our hunt. Chances are I'll sit on the fence only so long myself.

Cheers,
Robin

Well, what she doesn't pay attention to......

I was thinking of one of Grovers power cords as well and there was one on here recently but I decided to try a Pangea 10 gauge on my Havana, so far it sounds good but then again, my system with all the new tubes, components, etc. still needs a lot of breaking in in order to really tell.......

I wonder what Grover does with all those previous versions of IC's that people return for upgrades?......

BTW, I've posted it here before but Grover custom made an umbilical for my Mapletree Ultra 4SE that was really reasonably priced and it sounds great!

Well it's a gut feeling that Grover is  keeping them off the used market with his $50 trade-in so to keep his best available IC up to the forefront in audiophiles minds. I've heard not so good things about Grover's earlier power cords from years ago. But that was before he had progressed to ribbons or carbon nickel shielding. As far as that Pangea cord is concerned, it's not for me. It's size and weight isn't what a small 4lb tube Dac needs IMHO, especially when placed on the 4th shelf of a 6 foot 5 shelf rack.  :duh:  I want a light delicate cord made for low voltages, aka a ribbon power cord.  :D

Cheers,
Robin

Thanks to Joe, one GH IC down,3 to go! Keep 'em coming!....

Re the Pangea, I'm using a very high-end, exotic hardwood Ikea Lack coffee table () which is only 3 feet up so it's not a problem but I may start switching around. Kaplan's are a bit too much $ for me but I hear Black Sand Ultraviolet PC's have a great synergy with the Havana or I may ultimately  go to Grover again.....

Need 2 meter GH IC's, preferably the SX series. Re-arranging my setup means that the ones I have now are too short......

Hi Gopher ,
I tried to reply yesterday and today but am still getting the  "inbox full" message. I really need a 2m length in order to be able to re-locate my new amp.
Re the phono IC, I bought one from BJC recently as I only have a Dual 1219 TT and it didn't seem to warrant such a high-end cable. I'll try that out and if it could use some improvement I'll be getting back to you. Can you tell me how long it is?
cheers,
Dave
