I did a search on the forum and was surprised not to find any mentioning of her.

I picked up her album, Waking Hours, a few months ago.  Her music is refreshingly different and splendidly recorded.

What genre/type of music does she sing?  I must confess I've never heard of her, but I'm always on the lookout for something new and interesting.

Based on her first album, Waking Hours, I would say her genre would be easy listening (?) with very introspective lyrics.  Many have compared her style to that of Tori Amos.  If I remember correctly, she's a classically trained pianist.

Also, I believe she appeared on David Letterman's and NPR, and did receive some pretty high praises.  Check out this album on Amazon.

Rob---thanks for the welcome.  This is definitely a friendly site, and I've learned much from it.

ekovalsky---the piano playing and her voice are definitely great.  In addition, I find her songs to be, for the lack of a better word, "intelligentj"; perhaps, that's what happens when one has a computer science degree from Stanford.  I hope her 2nd album will be as tasteful.

Agreed, although I tend to pay less attention to lyrics than most.  I will add that it is a nice, clean recording.

Thanks for the heads up!  I also ran across Corrinne May who originates from Singapore.  The one free MP3 from Amazon called "Journey" sounds like a winner.  I'll be looking for both artists at lunch!

My wife has a number of CDs by Teresa Teng.  Is there a connection between the two women???

Not to my knowledge.  Vienna Teng is a Chinese American, whereas Teresa Teng was a hugely famous artist in Taiwan.  I don't know much about Teresa Teng, but have heard a lot of great things about her.

Right back at ya--- Corrinne May seems like a really good find.  cdbaby.com has all of her songs through Real Audio.
