And now, Aqua Interconnects!
« on: 26 Mar 2010, 07:25 pm »
Hello all,

To compliment the renowned hemp cables, I have single handedly created the new Aqua Interconnect, pictured below:

They are 1 foot long and use only a water alloy (this part is secret) to conduct signal from one end to the other. The cable body is made from clear vinyl tubing and how the RCA interconnects and the water filled tubes are terminated are also secret.

No, I am not going into production, but did this little tid bit to prove a point to a certain someone, that water is an excellent conductor, as proof by the many people that were electrocuted while standing in water using the old fashioned power tools.

This is a "fun" cable for me, hooked to the EC preamp thru the tape processor loop for humor,  but thought some of you would get a kick out of it.

It proves once again, that I have too much time on my hands.

Sierra Springs
Evian,
Aquafina,
and the expensive European one in the blue bottle.

Fabulous. Have you experimented with different fresh spring sources?

Rumor has it that the Vatican Holy Water model has a soundstage that is just heavenly.

What about Fiji?

Wayner-the funny thing is that you probably could make these and sell 'em for $500 each.

No, but they are slightly louder then with Frank's mute button on. Some where in between mute and normal. I'm actually surprised that they work as well as they do. First hemp, now water,,,,,say we've almost got a bong going here!

...and the electrolyte series.  When you need some extra top end.

If you wanted to see humor, you should have watched the process for putting the water alloy into the tubes. Damn capillary action! However, I did find a clever way to get it done, with a very small piece of wire.

Yea, I guess we need a name for them.

You should make a You Tube video.

Too late for that, but I have a name: Bong juice interconnects, to go with the Hemp cables. They are "green", (less bong spit). I wonder who could be my bong juice supplier?

Great Wayne, now can you make me about 8 x 6 foot long sets for our AVA display with Salk Sound at the upcoming AKFest?

Would beer or wine or Scotch filled ones work better?

Do you planning on coming to help Nate Field at the AK Fest?

Best regards,

Frank

I think you'd get higher bandwidth with blue tint and more fleshed out mellower sound with red tint.

Are you using water as signal and insulated copper wire as ground?

Great cables Wayner.  I don't know the details of your discussion about water being a conductor but if you use distilled water, it won't conduct electricity.  It is actually the impurities in the water that conduct electricity.  I saw my chemistry teacher prove it with a lightbulb.

Cool stuff!

Yah mix some minerals like potassium or iron.  Vitamins are soluble.

Salt is a good conductive additive for water, and I believe that is what is used for most elementary school science fair projects.  Regular iodized table salt is fine for typical mid-fi applications, but Hawaiian Alaea Sea Salt might be the better choice for that magical liquid midrange you seek.

But since sea water has only about .00000008 the electrical conductivity of copper, that would explain the very low volume output.

PFFT! Water - amateurs. I'll stick with traditional air-coupled interconnects. Guaranteed to improve the sound of almost all "salon-quality" audiophile components.

I would be careful you could end up creating hydrogen gas.
