Foobar - Remote Desktop
« on: 23 Mar 2010, 01:44 am »
Guys

I'm using Wasapi digital output for my HTPC which is hooked up to my DEQX (dac and digital crossover among other things).  When I try to control the HTPC with another computer, the output options are not the same and Wasapi (only showing Null Output, DS: Primary Sound Driver, DS: Remote Audio, and Wasapi: Remote Audio).  Wasapi: Remote Audio does not work.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, I'm using win 7 64-bit on my HTPC and win 7 32-bit on the controlling computer for what its worth.

Thanks,
Jim

My guess is that remote desktop is trying to send the sound from the music pc to the client - remote desktop does this by default. Under options go to the Local Resources tab and then sounds. I would try telling it "do not play" and see if that works any better.

Should I do this on the music server (where the media player Jriver is running) or on the client computer (from which I am controlling the media player). Please let me know. Thanks.

It did not work. I just do not see WASAPI as an available option when I connect using Remote Desktop. Only ASIO and DIRECT SOUND.

I am using JRIVER latest version, not Foobar and Windows 8. Let me know if you have any other suggestion, its pretty frustrating. Thanks.
