Actor Fess Parker, who became every baby boomer’s idol in the 1950s and launched a craze for coonskin caps as television’s Davy Crockett, died Thursday of natural causes. He was 85.

A fine actor, and by all accounts a fine man as well. An gentle giant who played Dan'l Boone as well. Both roles a fine model to those of us who watched weekly. Sad to see his generation passing.

I remember him as Daniel Boone, I used to watch reruns after school back in the '70's.

My Dad looked alot like him, so he was a role model for me when I was very young.
