Way ahead of his time, timeless, and gone too soon. RIP, Alex.

Sad - I really love his stuff, even his intentionally thin & ramshackle stuff just works for me.

What a shame - an iconic figure gone. He will be missed. I'm totally bummed by this news today.

RIP Alex.

Interview w/ Alex from (2004, I think) on NPR's "Fresh Air" today. I'm sure you can stream it from the NPR website.

What a truly modest guy with huge talent.

I was fortunate to live in Memphis for 20 years and was tuned in to Alex Chilton by a friend who game me a album "Like Flys on Sherbert".  Later I found out it was one of only 500 copies made on the Peabody label.  It is great condition and I do not play it, but today i will carefully get it out and put it on the turntable for a spin.

RIP Alex!!

This morning I read on Facebook that  Alex Chilton Kike Louie had died. Sad news and an irreparable loss.

Dr. Photo,
Thanks for the NPR interview reference.
I listened to the shortened form and the full version this morning.
Wish NPR or the South By Southwest Festival in Austin would have made available the bands that were honoring
Alex on Saturday night.  Maybe there will be a podcast.

Gone, but not forgotten.  Large number of "holds" on his cd's in both the Salt Lake library systems.
I gotta go down to the "vault" and dig up my copy of Big Star #1.

Do you think he was sick? I know he was always skinny but in the last few years he looked even skinnier. That is not good for the heart I would think.
