How often is it acceptable to repeat a song that you like before you appear to be retarded? And how many days should you wait before you play that song again? :?

I think once a day is perfectly acceptable.

2-3 times a day is OK if nobody else is around.   :green:

I have been sternly advised that I appear to be less than completely cognizant due to my obsession with all things audio.

After that, I just rolled with it. It's so much easier now.

Play that song over and over and over again!!!  Welcome to the ranks, Brother!

Have fun,
Jerry

Acceptable to whom? Do you live with a jury?

It depends on length.  Generally speaking, four times is the limit.  Beyond that and you run the risk of the Cool Police showing up and relieving you of your Cool Person status.  Don't risk it!  Besides, it's rather rude.  Billions of perfectly fine songs in the world go underlistened to and you want to go and wear out ONE of them?  It's just not very considerate.

"You shake it more than three times and you're playing with yourself"

If repeated listening meant retardation, then all audiophiles are mentally challenged (wait, that might be what Felicia was saying all along?).

When I hear a song that really moves me, I usually have to hear it again, right away.  3 times is about as many as I go for, but there is no fast limit for me.

I think a song on repeat for 24 hours is perfectly acceptable... if you bludgeoned your entire family with a meat thermometer, have weapon in hand and a silly grin on yer face! :)

I live alone except for my renter, but he doesn't care. I just wanted to know if my listening pattern is normal. 8)

You can only repeat Beethoven's 9th Symphony 21.8 times in a day.

I only wish we could follow the "minimal number of repeats" rule at Raves. There are some good songs I just absolutely hate now after using them over and over again to hear differences in cables, DAC's, amps, speakers, etc.

I know, I know ... it's necessary. But I don't have to like it.  :shh: :deadhorse:
