Competation for Jim McShane?
« on: 7 Mar 2010, 04:43 pm »
Perhaps this question would be more appropriate in the Vintage circle, perhaps not. There is an interesting Citation II rebuild on Audiogon this morning done and offered by a Mr Stu Remmington (Toobs2). Is anyone familiar with him and his work?

Paul,
I may not understand your post.
I assume you mean 'competition'? in your subject line?
And is Jim the fellow who does the bang up job with photos of the renovated Dynaco gear?

I wouldn't think then, that competition is the right word.  Isn't Audiogon mainly a place for selling gear?
Sorry for all these questions.  And it would be nice to provide a direct link to your interest.
I do like seeing old gear restored to pristine condition.  I have an Eico HF81 integrated amp that I really need to get to work on...
Wish I could make it look at pretty as this one:

And here is a link to a friend who has done several Citation I and II rebuilds, I believe.

Gary Dodd of Dodd Audio has worked on both Knight and Eico amps for me.  Repair is not his main gig, but depending on how busy he is building amps and preamps, he might fit you in.  Don't think you'd find anyone better.

These were a pair of Eico HF-12's that Gary redesigned for me.

Sweet! :D
But it has to have the Knight Kit or Eico Logo, or it is a no go for me. 8)

S Clark,
My first kit in 7th grade electronics. Man did I love building it!

Nope, that's Bill Thomas. Great craftsman, photog, and Facilitator of AC's Vintage Circle.  :thumb:

Here is a link to Jim McShane's site.

Have fun,
