1 amp 2 inputs?
« on: 31 Jan 2004, 08:57 am »
I have a Krell KAV-250A. It has single ended and balanced inputs. Can I use the single ended input for HT use and the balanced for 2 channel use. I guess my question is can I use both inputs at once as long as one of the sources is turned off at all times. Any issues with induced noise? I know that the balanced input has a grounding jumper for when I am using the RCA input.

No, you should not use both inputs at the same time.  Most amps wire these two inputs together internally, so if you connect two sources, you will be shorting two outputs together.  This will probably not damage the output drivers, but will likely affect the sound quality.  If the drivers are both low-impedance, such as 10 ohms, then damage could result.
