Easiest method to burn mono discs?
« on: 7 Mar 2010, 04:00 am »
I'll spare the long story, but I am in need to burn a few discs from my pre-existing iTunes library as mono discs. For some reason I thought iTunes had such an option, but I must have been imagining things. Any freeware solutions available? I'd rather just check a "burn mono disc" box, versus manually summing tracks in Audacity or something.

My library is all ALAC, if that matters.

Thanks!

Sorry, no checkbox, but you can do it within iTunes.

You would need to convert (make a copy) of the songs to WAV format.

1. Under Edit > Preferences change the Import Preferences to
 - Import Using: WAV Encoder
 - Setting: Custom
 - Channels: Mono

2. Select all of the songs to convert, and choose Advanced > Create WAV version

3. Burn the newly created WAV files to CD

4. Delete (and Remove from the Library) the mono WAV files after you're finished

5. Don't forget to change your Import Settings back to Apple Lossless for future ripping!

A few steps, but it's pretty quick.
