« on: 5 Mar 2010, 05:20 pm »
After picking up the Mino Cinelo self titled cd,thanks to others members who suggested it. I'm now on a quest to get more cd's with this kind of quality Bass..The low end on this cd is increadible.I have several other cd's with this kind of quality low end.Others include Patty Larkin(living the dream) ,Grateful Dead (Reckoning)just to mention a few..Any suggestions on top quality Bass recording's..The Mino Cinelo is hands down the finest recording I have heard for Bass!!!Thanks

Brian Bromberg's recordings are great, both musically and in their bass quality - Wood and Downright Upright especially.

Ah....BASS....the foundation of music.

Yes....that Mino Cinelu album is one of the best recordings out there. A little hard to come by...but worth the effort...

http://www.amazon.com/Mino-Cinelu/dp/B000031WXD/ref=ntt_mus_ep_wlb_dpt

His album "World Trio" is also worth picking up ...

http://www.amazon.com/World-Trio-Mino-Cinelu/dp/B000002GR7/ref=ntt_mus_ep_wlb_dpt

Some others that may be of interest...

Tony Levin - "Pieces of the Sun"....

http://www.amazon.com/Pieces-Sun-Tony-Levin/dp/B00005Y1JN/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1267813826&sr=1-5

Tony Levin as a member of "Black Light Syndrome"....

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Light-Syndrome-Bozzio-Stevens/dp/B000003ZBI/ref=ntt_mus_ep_wlb_dpt

Robert Miles and Trilok Gurtu (well recorded and mentioned many times)....."Miles_Gurtu"

http://www.amazon.com/Miles_Gurtu-Robert-Miles/dp/B0001AVZ5S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1267848821&sr=1-1

Michael Manring - "Thonk" ....

http://www.amazon.com/Thonk-Michael-Manring/dp/B000008I3B

Dean Peer - "Think... It's All Good"....REALLY GOOD ...check out the "Mars" track!

http://www.6moons.com/worldmusic/deanpeer.html

Samples... http://www.emusic.com/album/Dean-Peer-Think-It-s-All-Good-MP3-Download/11387562.html

Torture test BASS....first track, "Becoming Insane", from "Vicious Delicious" by Infected Mushroom....a SatFrat fav...

http://www.amazon.com/Vicious-Delicious-Infected-Mushroom/dp/B000QEIM5K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1267849446&sr=1-1

Then you have some really good bass players...(that I like)..

Ray Brown
Christen McBride
Ron Carter
Paul Chambers
Stanley Clark
Charlie Mingus
Jaco Pastorius
And more....

But if you want to "spring($)" for a really good album....an excellent recording....and worth owning...this would be the one...yes, it's Classical...
"Gary Karr, double bass virtuoso, is joined by Harmon Lewis on pipe-organ for an unforgettable recording that is considered one of the top-ten audiophile releases of all time."

Gary Karr - "ADAGIO D'ALBINONI"....

Check out the samples of the above albums....good luck. :thumb:

Don't forget those 16 Hz notes on Les Sept Paroles du Christ (Dubois), on track Mulier - eece filius tuus, but I really don't remember the version since this is the only thing I have off of it for these tortured organ pedal bass notes.

It may be this one, the cover looks familiar but I'm not positive: http://www.amazon.com/Charles-Gounod-paroles-chapelles-Symphonie/dp/B000000TZZ/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1267892776&sr=1-7

Try Yello's song, "The Race" from the album "Flag".  The pulsing deep bass...
