Minor hangup. Tubes are here, but different from last time, they came in bulk with no boxes (EL84 have boxes). I have some white boxes, but probably not enough. Please PM or email if you absolutely need Genalex boxes; I'm am waiting for an email back from them but rep. is in Germany.

Waiting on boxes for some. Started testing yesterday to get out to those who don't need boxes.

First seven tubes tested very poorly. I'm a little concerned; never saw results like this with the Genalex KT88s last time.

Hopefully with all these tubes it shouldn't be hard to weed out the bad ones

Hmm....QC problems at the factory perhaps? One can only speculate and hopefully you don't find it the norm for this type.

Definitely some low ones in here, but plenty of "NOS". Back to testing...

I emailed dburna about this, and to clarify:

The KT77 issue is actually related to the fact that think the actual characteristics for these tubes vary by manufacturer... This is getting more common as different manufacturers try to copy the original tube design. I dialed in the settings with the AT1000 engineer over the last few days, and while there are some low ones, the test has been much better matched to the design characteristics.

Okay, it's an audio forum (but I love my kids), and even the new member of our family is pumped about all this glass! She's about 12 pounds already!

EL84s shipped and I'm continuing on to the KT77. They should all be shipped much sooner than I thought; by the end of the week you will get a USPS email and one from me.

I'll ship your quad tomorrow or Thursday. I kind of need boxes for recording my test results; I dislike putting stickers or writing on the tubes. I found exactly 8 boxes. The rest should be here soon.

I'll get your quad out asap. Genalex may have a shortage on boxes (?), I'm not sure. I'm going to get as many as I can but they are going to send white boxes for sure.

What I'll do is I'll cut out my stickers and use rubber bands; then you can secure the test results to your white boxes. Sound good to everyone who has boxes? Josef - I'll send you a quad with white boxes.

Okay all, sounds like zero Genalex boxes. All I can do at this point is offer a refund to anyone who has to have retail boxes. This was completely unexpected and my hands are tied. They have sent me (100) white boxes which was a nice gesture imo.

My angle is that if you want to resell you can point to the fact that these were tested at high real-world voltages and point to the test results which you will have as a result of the premium testing and matching.

Hi Doc,
I got the EL-84's and they sound great. It's early, but in my Carina amp they seem to be in the same league as my favorites... Amperex "D" getters.
