.....if i were looking for a tube amp to drive a reasonable wariety of speakers, w/o knowing which speaker, (something you don't really wanna do, imo), i'd choose the amp that gitarretyp is selling, or the yaqin mc-100b, ......

Or my PrimaLuna Dialogue 2, which I will be putting up FS soon.    :eyebrows:

Love this amp but need more power.

Apologies for the shameless plug.

I'd think seriously about something like this: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1273006212&/Music-Reference-RM-10-Mk2-

+1.  The RM-10Mk.II is a seriously wonderful amp.  I think Roger Modjeskie has said it is his favorite design.  But if he didn't I know someone will correct me!

I believe you are right about that, Mr. Hobby.

I've heard great things about it so I always wanted to take that RM-10 for a spin.  I will some day.

Will the The RM-10Mk.II have enough power to drive the HT3's?  30 wpc driving 85 dB effecient speakers... sound like it might be right on the edge of running out of oomph on demanding transients.  Just asking since I don't have experience with either.  Didn't Danny Richie have a set of Dodd 50 watt amps for sale?  I think those usually go for around $1k-1.5k used.

I don't think he's trying to drive the HT3s with this amp.  He's looking to set up a second system, using higher efficiency speakers.
