Anyone else like this stuff? I'd only heard the two or three songs that come with Rock Band until my 12 year old twisted my arm into taking him to their show this evening. Since I purchased the tickets a few months back I've been exploring their catalog and I have to say, I'm excited about tonight's show!

My two favorites (from what little I've heard so far) are Hysteria and Knights of Cydonia.

Hysteria...............

I like them!  I will be seeing their Boston show next saturday.  I saw them a couple of years ago.  They put on a really good big-rock-show.  I can't listen to them 24/7, they're too mellodramatic and over the top for that.  But every now and then they're exactly what I need.  Stockholm Syndrone ROCKS!

Muse rocks.. If you like them, checkout the band Gazpacho "Tick Tock". These guys sound a little like Muse, Radiohead & Porcupine Tree. In a music poll in Europe, the beat out Porcupine Tree & Riverside for top album (Tick Tock). Enjoy

I was kind of lukewarm on their latest release, The Resistance, but all of their other albums are quite good.

The latest tour has been getting rave reviews, so I'd try to make it to one of their upcoming shows if you can.

I've been a big fan of Muse since I saw them open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers way back in 2000. If you like Muse, you might also check out two other British indie rock bands: Bloc Party and Kasabian.

I agree they rocked.  I was most impressed, and I am not easily impressed in concerts.  They were previously hyped, so I had high expectations.

I saw them on their prior tour as well, a couple of years ago.  I felt the video stuff was more interesting on that tour.  The 'screens' were more enveloping of the stage then and really sucked you in.  The three tower thing was a bit harder to watch.  Still impressive nonetheless.

I saw them for the first time on Palladia last night. Great show. After seeing and hearing them, I am  to say I don't have any of their albums; so which Muse album should I buy to start my collection?

thanks.

I have the most recent 4 albums, my preference for them is in this order

1) The Resistance
2) Absolution (close 2nd, maybe even first)
3) Black Holes & Revelations (a ways behind the other two)
4) Origin of Symmetry  (which is pretty new to me)

The Resistance is most like one of Queen's Rock Opera albums in my opinion.  If this is a little too grandiose for your sensibilities then start with Absolution, which is one of the most accessible albums IMO and what brought them to the forefront.

Thanks Josh. I have several Queen albums, but may start with Absolution.

One thing about Muse to warn you about:

The singer sucks in lots of air between lines.  I've begun to affectionately call them GULP with friends instead of Muse.  The earlier three albums all have this.  If it annoys you (and it does annoy many) it is toned down quite a bit on the latest two.

Absolution was my first Muse album.  So I'll always have fonder memories of it.  Black Holes and Revelations is probably my next favorite, then Origins of Symmetry.  I haven't yet been able to completely dig the new one, or the first one - Showbiz.

Oh, and if your politics favor 2000-2008 over 2009-present you may not appreciate their message.

Enjoy!

I bought The Resistance double LP and really like the music a lot. I haven't paid much attention to the lyrics yet. That will come in time. They are a band I definitely want to catch in concert soon.

I wasn't too fond of 2000-2008, and I really dislike 2009 to the present; but I did like 1980-1988. I try not to let political differences come between enjoying good music or good friends.

Thanks again for the recommendation.
