Favorite Music and drink combo?

Any favorites for listening and drinking together? I'll go first:
Brahms Piano Trio's
Highland Park 18 year Scotch
Or
Beethoven Symphony # 9
Balvenie Double Wood 12 year Scotch
Or
Chopin's Nocturnes
Macallan's 12 or 18 year Scotch
Or
Bach's Solo Cello Suites
Lagavulin 16 year Scotch
Or
Shostakovich's String Quartet #8
Ardbeg 10 year Scotch
Obviously I like scotch
Anyone else got a favorite or 2?

Just about anything
I really enjoy a few cocktails with Miss Patricia. I ususally save the classical for the third or forth disc and by then I'm done drinking.

I can't drink anything while listening to my system. Two nights ago, I am listening to
The Wall
in the dark, and enjoying it quite a bit when all of a sudden I was scared half to death by my own system!
My new front end is so freaking dynamic, it can be startling at times. During the track
Vera
, there is something that sounds like a big steel gate or something that slides from outside the left wall into the center of the room.
I guess I knew it was there, but I had never heard it sound so freaking real, and jump out so hard.
If I had been drinking my favorite drink at the time (Kool-Aid), I would have certainly blazed it all over the carpet.

Trying out a new scotch tonight - Aberlour A'bunadh and it's absolutely perfect with Holly Cole - Sweet and strong, spicy and mellow.

Tyson,
Since you seem to be a big Scotch man, how about some of your favorites?

OK, faves:
Highland Park 18 y.o.
Lagavulin 16 y.o.
Balvenie 21 y.o. Port Wood
Aberlour a'bunadh
Ardbeg 10 y.o.
The Macallan "Cask Strength"
Good but not great:
Bowmore 12 y.o.
Glenmorangie (most bottlings)
Aberlour 10 y.o.
The Macallan 12 y.o.
Oban
Dalwhinnie
Cardhu
Talisker 10 y.o.
To be avoided:
Craggenmore 12 y.o.
Glenlivet 12 y.o.
Sound promising but not tried yet:
Lagavulin 12 y.o. cask strength
Ardbeg 17 y.o.
Laphroaig 15 y.o.
Aberlour 15 y.o.
Dalmore 12 y.o.
Talisker 20 y.o.
Glenfarclas "105"
As a side note, you can sometimes find special bottlings like "Murray McDavid", or "Old Malt Cask" that will generally bottle the premium barrles at a distillery at cask strenght, and non-chill filtered. These are almost always worth checking out, as they usually are more characterful than the standard bottlings.

The Balvenie 21 port has been knocked out of the top spot! Got a bottle of Aberlour a'bunadh earlier this week, and it is my current favorite - big, bold, chocolate, toffee, and cheyenne pepper. Very, very nice.
So, what music would go with such a great scotch? Why, Mahler of course!
Mahler's 2nd symphony (Resurrection).
Well, gotta go, off to the bar to drink even more (Talisker and Glenfarclas 105 are the top of the list).
BTW, if any of you are even in Denver, I suggest checking out Pint's Pub - they have over 250 different scotches available, broken down by region and rated on the menu. That's where I'm headed now. . .

I usually have Scotch with Neil Diamond after a long night out. Queen is also good... sometimes the Pogue's "Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash"... good stuff.
Also, a friend found an album I used to love to drink to, Morphine. Good stuff.
I rarely drink anything other than scotch while listening.
Based on your tastes, Tyson, I think you may really like the Talisker. I like all kinds of whiskey's depending on my mood.
If you want a good 'beginner's whiskey' try Bushmill's 10-year single malt... buttery smooth and so easy to drink. I love it while playing pool.
I like Bushmills 'Blackbush' as well. If you're into blends, this is a good one.
Cheers!

Great great thread!!!!
JWalker Blue & Bach Musical Offering or Art of Fugue (for string quartet)
Mount St. Edna Cabernet and Steely Dan.
Beer (Any brand) and Gregorian Chant
Ambassodor Scotch (25 year! of course) and Soma FM Radio.
http://www.soma.fm/
(check out the ambient channels--a true revelation for those nights working in front of the computer)
Hey Tyson,
I just picked up a bottle of Johnny Walker Green. Not imported into USA; however, my neighborhood store brought some back from Europe and got a few more bottles imported. Its about $55 per bottle, very peaty, and way good!
