Neo tweeter availability?

Now that the storms have mostly subsided, is there any update on the tweeter status?

BG was supposed to get their shipment in last week. So hopefully my order with them will be here next week.

Thanks.

Can you give us a heads up when BG says they are on their way?

Hi Danny

I am going to order the OB7 kit but would also like to know when the tweets. arrive so I can order then. I contacted you last week with some questions which you answered promptly. If you let me know when you can ship I will submit my order.

Thanks
Brian

What is the latest ETA on the tweets?

Hello Danny,
I'm considering your Neo 2X kit.  Does this mean that you don't have the tweeter that's part of that kit in stock at the moment?

That is correct. BG is suppose to get them in today. They then have to add deep back cups for my order then ship them out to me. So it could be Wed. of next week before they are here. I can then start filling some of these back orders of N series kits.

According to BG, they shipped out to me yesterday. So they will be here before the end of the week.

Danny

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to building the OB 7's. I think I will do the baffle in Maple as I have veneer already. Box will be black. Do you bill when the order is received or when you ship? I haven't submitted my order yet. I am already wanting a pair of servo subs but they will have to wait for a bit.

Thanks
Brian

If you order on line then it bills your card that day. If you call and order, then I bill your card the day that it ships.

Tracking data shows that they are in Dallas right now, so they won't be here until Monday.

Danny, PE has a "W" suffix, do you know what this means? Did something change? All available data seems to be for the non-"W" version. I'd be interested in a (short) line of 3s, just trying to figure out the options. I want them dipole. Thanks ;)

I think the W means "with back cup".

Let me know how many you want John, and I'll make you a deal on them.

I have designed a few speakers that used lines of them in the past.

Some interesting results for the Neo3 presented by Linkwitz' recent large signal tests: http://linkwitzlab.com/frontiers_6.htm#Y -

Thanks for the heads up on this article. On the surface those results look poor but there are a few things to note.

1 That is the neo3 not the neo3pdr - a similiar but not identical driver.
2. The burst frequency is 1.5khz with high levels at 1400 and 1600 due to the modulation. This is lower in frequency than the xover on the OB5/7. These frequencies will be attenuated by the crossover by maybe 10db at a guess.
3. I have heard nothing but good comments on the sound of the neo3pdr in the ob5/7 and have not heard anyone complain about distortion. There are limits to how loud any tweeter will play cleanly. I have not heard anyone complaining about a lack of dynamic range in the HF. This is somewhat of a torture test and may not be relevent to how the tweeter will sound in the OB5/7. I cant think of a musical instrument that would put out a high level 1500hz waveform modulated like that.
