Also very interested in the upgrade - primarily just interested in a crossover upgrade.Should be fairly easy to accomplish on site if one is handy with a soldering iron.
I took it to mean for $2,500 more you can buy a VR-35.
I was told by VSA that if you want to upgrade your existing VR-33 speakers to the VR-35 status it would cost you $2500.00 plus shipping. I think it is just the crossover parts and the tweeter/midrange drivers? Call Albert to clarifiy. It was a while back and my memory isn't like it use to be. I do remember after speaking with Albert, we agreed it wasn't worth the hassle(shipping and being without speakers for a while). And Albert suggested putting the $2500.00 towards better cables. And that's what I'm going to do. I hope this clears up the confusion I may have caused??
My listening taste are pretty eclectic but every once in a while I like to crank up the rawk...last night I put on one of my favorite rock tunes, Tom Sawyer by Rush and turned it way up. This is really the first time I have cranked the VR-33s and it was quite an experience. There is a spot in the bridge where Neil Peart first hits every tom in his kit in succession (from right to left on your stereo image), then creates something akin to thunder with his dual kick drums. Wow! This is the first speaker I have had where you feel the drums as much as hear them.I was also impressed with my Bel Canto eVo2i, not a hint of strain, clipping, or distortion at that volume.Just thought I'd share
Hey es, I listened to the Goldenears at a local shop. The setup was horribleso I could not really get a good listen,as if they did not want to sell them. Have you heard them?
