Some posts talk about Bryston amplifiers going into protection mode. What does that mean exactly? What is being protected? The amplifier? The speaker?

I believe both as I(a few months back)I was running my prepro thru the 26(for movies)
and,AND I FORGOT to turn the vol.down on the 26(high noon) :shake:,put on a cd,WHAT THE FFF.
IT WAS SO LOUD FOR A SPLIT SECOND.tHE AMPS WENT INTO PROTECTION MODE+
saved my speakers 3 woofers, one mid+one tweeter per side.I just sat there for a bit and did a quick
analysis of what  I had done.Turned the 26 down to O,rechecked all speakers :bounce: :eyebrows:.
So for sure BOTH+ now I 4Xcheck pre before putting on any music after watching a movie.
BACK TO THE FUTURE PART2 :o.

Don, my Amps have not gone into protection mode.
My lights are always Green  :banana piano:

On the weekends I like to warm up the Amps.
They are played between 12.30 and 1.45 on the Bp26

But yet still my 4B's have not yet gone into Protection Mode

Hi Robert,I do keep mine on 24/7.
8:00 on the 26 is teatime for music(comfy listening) and 9:00 is middle weight boxing in the ring and me without a defence.
9:30 is,well I'm the rag doll Tyson use to spar with. Those kick drum parts really give my chest a work out.
Even the termites holding hands almost lost the house.
I always say this, but if we ever aquire a bigger house,I could only imagine how superb she'd sound, even though i'm impressed as to what  space the gear has to work in.
Kinda like havin a miked up band in your kitchen.

I've had the left channel shut down on my 3B SST. The unit got so hot you could burn your hand on it. I thought something was wrecked. Unplugged it, plugged it back in and good to go.

I usually have a fan running in the room now, to keep things cool. 8)
