My goodness, I do not "feel" a lot of love for Bose products here
All kidding aside, I remember owning a pair of Bose 701 series V speakers. I first thought that they would improve in sound quality after I put some hours on them. It turned out that I never warmed up to the sound of the 701s. My friend really enjoyed listening to them and I ended up giving him the 701s. He still enjoys them to this very day and I am very happy for him - audio reproduction is extremely subjective.
One evening, I was really driving my 701s series V and I noticed an orange glow coming from the port. I inquired to the dealer about this orange glow and he told me that there was an element inside of the speaker that had surplus power diverted to it to protect the speaker and the elctronics

I also owned a pair of Bose 301 bookshelf speakers. Now these small bookshelf speakers sounded great when actually were placed in a bookshelf or enclosed area

To each their own
