Anyone here ever use Audio Note Silver Foils Caps?
« on: 10 Feb 2010, 12:51 pm »
I am thinking of using these caps as input coupling caps for my tube amp.
The other choice is Vcaps, which I have in my preamp, and are great!

The AN caps are very expensive, I need (2)   .22 value caps so not cheap, but the Vcaps are not cheap either.

Just wondering if anyone here had a chance to hear the silver foils.
I have used silver in oil  Mundorfs in that position but did not like them once they broke, these are suppposed to be a whole nuther animal.

Thanks
Mike

Hi

Yes, I've got a couple of 0.015uf in my Glasshouse 300bSEp at the mo.
I've compared them with the Vcaps, and in my opinion they're far superior (in this amp anyway, which is an Andy Grove design, so there might me some AN 'synergy' going on!).  They're just more 'musical'.
They're worth every penny mate.  There's nothing else like them imho.
