There's lots of info on this speaker in several forums.I even found some cabinet plans by Nelson Pass for it.Seems most folks like the sound. Most were using a tweeter XOed pretty high to make up for the lack of high freq information.I was thinking of using them as a DIY project.

What speakers do you use to evaluate your products?

I use these:

Klipsch RF-83's

I use three other kinds as well. The speakers range in sensitivity from 87 to 105db. All of them use multiple drivers. I want to set up a reasonably priced full bandwidth speaker system as another test platform.

The well respected Pioneer BOFU. There are about a zillion posts on diyAudio. I have 4 here.

Really good bang for the buck, it needs a tweeter (usually XOed with a single cap at 10k). The goto driver for a set of $100 (sans finish) speakers that have bass. Not known for their detail, more lack of omission than any glaring problems.

How do they compare to this one?

Very different beasts. The Pioneer does bass, and doesn't ring like a bell.

I repaired an old 60's Silvertone turntable. It has two (I believe 6") AlNico drivers that are front firing. WOW! I wasn't prepared for the sound it produced! They didn't look like anything special, but they have full, rich sound. Their high end was probably only around 10 to 15K. The bass went down to around 60hz.
