Bryston wouldn't be the same if manufactured e.g. in China.
Besides from that I would not buy anything from Bryston which would have been made in China.

I don't wan't a cheap product made by an armada of (not so well treated) people who don't give a second thought about what kind of piece of electronic they're soldering together.

I want a product made by people who do care about what they're doing and one can almost feel the passion and commitment those people have about their products.

I want quality, I want 20 years of warranty, I want a unique product, I want craftsmanship, I want that Canadians still have their jobs in 5 years - AND I'M WILLING TO PAY FOR THAT!

Getting everything as cheap as possible is the modern form of greed - and it will destroy us or at least our jobs in the long run.

So, to answer your question: Yes, I do care!

Greetings from Germany

I think bryston's philosophy on how they respect and treat their employees over the years says alot about why Bryston has superb products.
If you don't know, just click onto thier site and click on Bryston's philosophy.
If more companies cared more about thier employees, then I'm sure Quality would go up big time.
The company success sharing with it's employees, is a very positive step as everybody wins :thumb:.

The price IS important, but I mean the price I have to pay (not the manufacturing Price). Here in The Netherlands the price for Bryston is ridiculous: a pair of 7B-STTs costs 14000 euro over here (that's $19000). THAT is the problem. Consider direct selling. The high-end communitiy is "living on the internet" more and more. We don't need those money-sucking dealers; essentially they kill the brand, not helping it.

just my 2cts.

hi, BenBau!

a pair of 7B SST used to be are around 7000 euros in Germany if i remember correctly. the SST2 series may cost a bit more- but are you sure that you meant a pair? well, i can be wrong here. but however...14000 euros seems a touch too much?!

best,

Official price here (in Croatia-Europe) is EUR 9.000 for a pair of 7BSSTsq.
For cash payment it is usual -10%.
A fair price considering how much others ask for similar stuff.
If it was from China or similar place nobody would buy it here.
Bryston´s origin justifies it price at least partly.
Local dealer is a very nice and helpful guy who instead of silently displaying products is playing music through his working hours.
Demo is everything here! :icon_lol:

Actually I was wrong. A pair costs 8500 euro. Still too much comparing to US price.

The US/Canadian dollar is not strong against the Euro right now so intuitively North American goods should cost less in Europe.  For example, I remember in the early 1980's when the USD was worth four Deutchmarks.  A North American could travel to Germany, pick up his brand new BMW in Munich, enjoy a nice road trip vacation and ship the car back to the US all for the price of buying the BMW at home. The fact that this particular product doesn't cost less means there must be high import tariffs being place on it.  Don't blame Bryston or anyone in North America.  You would best complain to the Socialist European Government you live under in The Netherlands and elswhere in Europe.

BTW, good luck with that.

Hmm, at the end of the day I want the best value (performance, quality and my own ego-stroking...hey I admit it) for my money.  The rule of thumb has always been to look toward equipment designed and manufactured in reputable places (NA and Western Europe).  I believe that it is possible for equipment from emerging markets (China) to satisfy my personal value equation, but it'll be a while before I get over my own FUD and buy with confidence.  Until then I'll lean toward proven vendors.

That said, I believe vendors will be able to overcome their FUD with data much faster - thus the moves.

Human rights are important.  Absolutley.  But I find it hard to separate fact from fiction - and wouldn't be able to justify a really high cost premium just to make myself feel good.  (small premium, sure)  You know, I work for a large multi-national manufacturer with facilities allover the world - and to be honest our working conditions in China are pretty darn good.

The decision mechanism for me is "you get what you pay for".  I'm willing to pay more (within my means) for the best I can get, hoping to make a decision that proves to be correct over time.

I guess my question to all is do you think customers care where a product is manufacturer or is the lowest price all that really counts in the end?

What I really care is if the product satisfies my desires or not (please note that I wrote "desires" not "needs" ).

Made in Canada makes it more desirable. Also less trouble if I need service (try to get serviced a product from a company that doesn't have a Canadian brick&mortar rep and see what I mean).

On price alone I would probably be in the Emotiva forums.

I have read that these types of tanks have a most awesome audio system and I would personally believe this to be a fact.
