Just some clarification:
'Burning' means to put data/music/video on to a disc from a computer.
'Ripping' means to extract data/music/video from a disc to a computer.
That said, it sounds like you are ripping your CD collection to your hard drive. In this instance, I'd recommend not multitasking as this can potentially introduce occassional pops and clicks to the ripped tracks.
