Anyone still using an Ariston Audio RD IIs turntable?

I picked one up (well) used recently.  Has a nice Grace tonearm on it and a heavy metal platter.  Only issue is a soft ticking that I assume is the motor suspension.  With the needle in the run out groove on a record and the gain turned way up there is no audible noise from this through my speaker.  Sill, I'd like to fix that.  Perhaps add a DC motor upgrade.  I've never looked inside a turntable but the motor appears to be rather hard to get to.

I would have to pay alot to get a new deck with a platter this heavy and a tonearm this good.  Any experience with this deck out there?

I don't have an Ariston RD11s, but I have a RD11 Superieur with a DC motor and one piece platter. I am not sure if I can help you troubleshoot the noise from the motor without seeing it or hearing it. A bent shaft in the motor may have made the same kind of noise.

Any chance the motor pulley is rubbing against the chassis? There may be a set screw that will allow you to set the height of the pulley on the motor shaft otherwise you may need to adjust the tension on the plinth float springs - not the easiest task if memory serves.

Yes, check that and the belt. Sometimes belts get a spot in them from setting in the motor pully for to long of time.

I think the motor shaft bearings are worn.  I suppose I could pull the motor and see if a shop can fix it.
