Do you have an iTunes store account?  As far as I know, that is necessary for the feature to work.  If that's not the problem, then let us know what specific error you're getting.

In my experience.  The majority of albums have the metadata on the CD, so once ripped the album art and info is logged.  Some of my older CD's don't have the metadata on the disc, iTunes allows you to right click on the album icon and a drop down appears, click on "Get Album Artwork" and your computer reaches out via the internet to obtain the artwork.

If you are ripping a compilation you need to right click on the album icon, click "Get Info", click "Options" then check the compilation box yes and iTunes will organize those tracks into a compilation.

That is the best way I know how to explain my process.  Others please correct me if I'm wrong.

The simplest thing to try first is to

Sign out of the iTunes Store (with the dropdown at far right next to your username/email address)
Quit iTunes
Start iTunes
Sign into the iTunes Store

Hopefully that will work.

To retrieve the Track Names you will need to have the Artist and the Album entered for each track of the album.

If this data is not already entered, then:

1. Select All of the tracks for an album
2. Click File > Get Info
3. Enter the Artist and Album (as they appear in the Gracenote.com database)

Then with all of the tracks selected, click Advanced > Get CD Track Names

If it doesn't find them, then the Artist and/or Album may be listed differently in the database.  You can go to Gracenote.com and search for the album to get the correct Aritst and Album name.
