New member- Old Bryston salesman

Hello to everyone at the Bryston Circle. Believe it or not I only discovered this group a few days ago when looking for info on one of my amps (I will post about that seperately).

Nice to see my old acquaintance James Tanner participating here and doing a fantastic job, as he always does with everything.

Here is my story. I worked in the audio business from the mid 80's to early/mid 90's. The store I was at took on the Bryston line while I was there so I am proud to say I used to sell Bryston home audio gear and that is when I met James. He was good enough to get a BP11, I think that is what they called the balanced output version of the 11B, put together for me to run with my Mark Levinson No.29. Once I left the business I sold almost all of my nice gear as I figured it was at its peak value and would not be worth nearly as much in a few years if I needed the money.

Fast forward many years and I decided to start tracking down examples of some of the great stuff I used to sell, or at least models that were similar. That is why my list of equipment is not state of the art. All else being equal, for nostalgia's sake I would rather stick with vintage stuff from my audio retail days, give or take a few years. With some careful choices it is not too much of a handicap or hardship.

Here is a partial list of what I am using now:

11B (alas, James informed me they no longer had the parts to install a balanced output)

3B-ST. A few years after my time, but close enough and a nice upgrade.

Gyrodec/RB300

Mirage M3si

STAX Quattro II CDP

Denon DCD-2560 CDP

NAD 6100 tape, 4300 tuner

Kef Reference 107, the actual demos from our store I ran across and bought back!

Arcam Delta 270 CDP

Yamaha RX-1130/CDX-1120/ KX-1200 all Ti

.4B and 4Be, most recent arrivals.

There's a bunch of other stuff that may come up at some point such as the CP-3 based HT system, but now you have a basic idea of what I am working with.

I am really glad I found this group and have already been enjoying the posts immensely.

Ray

Welcome Raynald!  Unlike you I bought my first Bryston gear just 7 months ago. I am very happy with my decision.  Am looking forward to hearing more from you as various topics come up.

Cheers,

Bill
