Felix parts : selection & sourcing
« on: 3 Feb 2010, 12:32 am »
Hi,

I have been searching for Felix topics as i have some parts stored in the closet for too long.
I will be building them for my 50W power amps + DVD + Preamp.
I have the CMC's required. I dont have the caps yet. I also do not have any pcb board.

I believe some time ago a group buy was organized and many used that to get their hands on a user built pcb board, very professionaly built.
Is there anyone out there that has some extra ?

Also, what caps is mandatory using ? Is brand important ? I saw Vishay references here, but what i can get locally is not vishay. Just ordinary X2 caps.

Thanks all for you replies
Felipe

I have the caps for sale over in the marketplace, if you do a thread search for felix it'll be the most recent hit after this one. (I'm not allowed to cross-link to the sale in this thread b/c it would constitute spamming.)

I just noticed in the latest issue of "Banana Skins" that some brands of X2 AC Line Capacitors lose 10 % of their capacitance per 1000 hours of operation.

"...well-known problem on (some) X2 capacitors (across the line) are safety capacitors designed to fulfill ... UL specs, CSA specs....
Means the cap is allowed to do everything, but not to fail in an unsafe way!

“To be here on the safe side such caps will be produced in a special way with special design and process parameters.
Disadvantage is here that such caps are not really stable concerning capacitance!
The capacitors are designed to fulfill in minimum the requirements of the IEC which say, that such a cap is allowed to lose max 10% of its capacitance during 1000h of operation.”

I too am searching for components and cannot find the Vishay 338 X1's in stock anywhere.  Please see the reply I just posted in the Felix project thread.
