Yes, and that was a long time ago :)

The drivers are good but the crossover would need to be updated.

yeah, those are the ones...got in touch with the guy and he says they are not warm but rather analytical...

The cabs are rather ugly but that can be remedied.

I would haggle the price down to less than 3 and then send the crossovers for mods. 

In today's dollars, it is quite impossible get quality components for a pair of reference quality bookshelves for less than $600-700.  Assembled, that deal is a super bargain.
