Hi Guys, do any of you have a good recourse for building a DIY single phase to 3 phase rotary converter. I understand the principle and would like a good set of plans to build my own.

What are you going to do with three phases?  That's typically 360 volts and used only in industrial applications.

Normal industrial 3 phase voltages are 208 and 480. Lots of horse power for running things like CNC machines or other industrial size machines. A 208 volt leg and center tap will get you 120 volts, the 480 with center tap will get you 277 volt. I don't know what you are  going to do with this either, but please remember that big voltages can really kill. However, it would be very swift. In otherwords, and please don't take offense at this, but if you don't know how to make it, you probably don't know how to control it, either. Please be careful,   this just doesn't sound like a good DIY project.

I have a 415v 3 phase motor I want to run at home, but I dont have 3 phase. So I want to build a single phase to 3 phase rotary converter to run it. I understand the voltages, no more dangerous than building an amp.....done a few of those......so I am sure I am up for it 
I just would like to find a very clear plan for the cuircit, and layout. I know what size motor to get to provide the phantom leg.

I think it would be cheaper to get a single phase motor and less of a hassle.

I took a 3 phase 415V rattle many years ago when I worked as a EE in the papermills. Made sure I didn't repeat that again. I was used to 110V and 240V but that 415V nearly killed me.
