Static build up

Hello Everyone, I purchased my 1st player about a year ago and I have been building up a nice collection of records during this time.

Over the last few months my system has begun to develop a noticable amount of static and humming sound coming through the player and speakers.

The felt mat clings onto any record when I remove it from the platter and a loud pop occurs when I place it back on.

Please let me know if there is a way to solve this problem.

Thank You

CB

Yep, in dryer winter months static can be a problem.  You can try a static gun like the Zerostat or a static record brush.  I personally have been using Torumat Superfluid when I find a poppy disc.  The liquid treatment neutralizes static build-up.  Do a "static gun" search in the vinyl circle and a few months ago there was a lengthy discussion about static and guns in particular.  Good luck!

Get a good humidifier too.
