Approximately one year old AVA T8+ DAC in outstanding condition with the manufacturer-installed Burr Brown OPA627AP upgrade. This is a high-end, individually hand-built, U.S-made DAC that uses an extremely low noise toroidal power transformer. The DAC can operate with 6N1P, 6CG7, and 6922 tubes, and reportedly with 6DJ8, ECC88, or 7308 tubes, although the manufacturer-endorsed tubes have been the 6N1P and the 6CG7 tubes. Included in the sale are the stock Russian 6N1P tubes.
Frank Van Alstine installed his brand new Vision DAC in my AVA Insight+ preamp, and I do not need the second DAC, since I can use the Vision DAC with both my Insight+ preamp and my T8+ preamp, and my acquisition of the Vision DAC is the only reason for the sale. The T8+ DAC plays red book format and has one digital coax input. The T8+ DAC, Insight+ DAC, and Ultra+ DAC have been discontinued with the introduction of the Vision DAC, but AVA will service the DAC, if ever necessary, for many years into the future. The T8+ DAC can also be upgraded to the current production DAC in the future.
The most recent retail price of the DAC was 1379.00, manufcturer-direct, including shipping. The Burr Brown OPA627AP upgrade was an additional 70.00 plus shipping. The DAC was built in 2008, and I am the second owner. I bought the DAC last year for 650.00 and spent 150.00 with shipping on the opamp upgrade. My asking price, 575.00, is less that one-half of the retail price and includes shipping and PayPal fees.
This is a wonderful tube DAC with glorious midrange, outstanding clarity, and remarkable dynamic range. I have perfect feedback on a'gon and ebay, and I have had one successful sale on AC.
