1968, My first rock concert: Jimi Hendrix in Berlin Germany. Admittedly, the sound was terrible. Most of the time Jimi was the only one you could hear but, it definately made an impression on me. A short time after that I saw John Mayall at the Berlin Philharmonic and to this day, it quite possibly, was the best concert experience (musically and acoustically) I've ever had.
1971 Philly Spectrum: Black Sabbath, Mountain and Humble Pie. Quite a line up for $4.50.

Oh, yeah, Iron Butterfly at Columbia, Md. Merriweather Post Pavilion 1969?  As I recall it was a totally boring concert.

Heart, in a small venue on the west side of Baltimore, around '79.

Knowing that beers are served in litre mugs in Deutchland you shouldn't be able to type after 123 of them.  You're my hero, Alex !

Now that's one I would have liked to have been at! The roots of hard rock and metal right there.

Speaking of live music, I went to the Symphony this Sunday PM and saw a performance of Beethoven's violin concerto.  The soloist was one of your countrymen, Alex.  His name is Augustin Hadelich.  Come to think of it the composer is a countryman as well.  The Hadelich performance was just mesmerizing.  I might have to add it to my short list of all time favorites.  You Germans sure have a way with music I must say. :thumb:

wow! Do you have both bands? I do believe it was Iron Maiden 2nd show of the tour. They decided to do their sound check in Sydney, N.S. (where I was going to highschool, grade 10) about a week before the tour started. That Monday in school a friend of my told me a band called 'Iron Maiden' was staying at the hotel where his mother worked. Lunch time came, cut classes, hitch hiked into the only big areana we had (5500 people) and waited in back like a idiot. There was no trucks, cars or any sign of movement. Waited about 3 hours then wham...out came Bruce Dickinson for some fresh air. At the time they were my fav band so this was a hugh deal at age 15! Ended up meeting them all, I went everyday for a week to see the maddness that started when everybody found out. 8 or so tractor trailors, buses and crazy Maiden fans.
Traveled to Halifax (4 1/2 hours away) to see them in concert.....good good times!! GNR was a bonus....nobody knew who they were but I remember they had a great sound.
