The Goertz was on an "audition" basis from a dealer and no stabilization network was provided or mentioned to me.

Yes, you are correct again, the cable I purchased and am using is Nordost Blue Heaven.

Thanks again for your help & "sound" advice.  AC is a fantistic website!

Not to start a war, but are you aware if anyone has done a study regarding the relationship between a cable's specific capacitance, and the differences between sonic characteristics?

Your dealer is negligent, he must not be aware of the possible issue.

To defend Goertz a little, they explain their theory and give measurements in the link below, which is better than most cable makers, and the zobel network you should have been given would have prevented the issue with oscillation.

Basically they trade increased capacitance for decreased inductance, resulting in less total impedance. A lot of people really like the way their cable sounds, but I haven't tried it.

I would say you have legitimate beef with both the dealer and the mfgr. of the cable. If you have already returned the cable you have pretty much missed you chance to lodge a complaint with the dealer. If you still have the cable I think you ought to make some noise, possibly the dealer will change how he does things in the future and certainly you should lodge a complaint with mfgr. and bring this flawed audition of their product to their attention.

Here is a quote from the article I linked to earlier in this thread. from audioholics website.
The complete article should be read. http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/cables/speaker-cable-reviews-faceoff-2/speaker-cable-reviews-faceoff-2-page-3

The speaker end response has a small "lump" with 10 ohms, and phase goes "wobbly" at above 20MHz. This is probably not a concern, and you will almost certainly get away with it. It is very evident that this particular cable should never be used without a zobel at the speaker end, and it is equally obvious that the vendor does not really understand transmission line theory, since the zobels supplied with the cable  (and you have to ask for them!)  are incorrect. This is not difficult to get right, and if they are off base with something a simple as a resistor value, I would be disinclined to believe their other material.
