Question for James Tanner
« on: 21 Jan 2010, 02:21 am »
James:
I recently picked up a BP-20. I was wondering if it was normal to hear "Pop" when switching between sources. The noise seems to be louder if I have the volume turned up. No noises occur when I switch between the balanced inputs...
I don't recall having this issue with my old .5B preamp.
Any advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Could be DC from a source or the preamp or could be a dirty selector control.  Turn off the preamp and rotate the  selector switch quickly back and forth for about 20-30 times and see if it clears up.

Hi James,

Is there any plans for upgrade options to existing SST amplifiers?  With the introduction of the SST^2 amplifiers, I think there would be an interest from people like me willing to get some of the benefits of the SST^2 amplifiers at a reasonable price.

Any thoughts on this topic?

I'm sure James will chime in but he's already indicated there are too many changes for upgrades.  I'm sure if you do a search you can also find the posts.
