I have an AE PH-1 phono pre-amp. It takes 2 6SL7s and 1 12AU7. I am finding the sound a bit rolled off at the high end. The 6SL7s I believe are Jan-Phililps tubes. I don't know that the 12AU7 is. Any suggestions that would balance the sound a bit? I don't want the high end to be colored but I feel like I need to change something to make it neutral.
For airy/extended 12AU7 types:
Cheap and good: RCA 5814A, CBS (aka Raytheon) 5814A
Good (but not cheap): Siemens 5814A or 12AU7's
Wild card that's not particularly as extended or refined but one I often end up using anyway for sheer tone, liveliness: Ei 12AU7
