Can I use .007uF Auricaps in this position?  The spec says .001uF and wondering if I need to stick with the exact spec value.

Better stick with the exact value for C8 as it is part of the RIAA filter.  Changing the value will change the equalization.  Multicap has a cap in that value if you are looking for an alternate.

Please don't stray from nominal values for the EQ.  This is all carefully balanced to yield accurate results.  Five or ten percent is fine, but not 700%!

jh :)

But Jim, it's 700% of such a SMALL number, sheesh!

OK, OK, thanks guys and I can take a hint.

I'll use the Multicap RT .001uF Polystyrene and Tin Foil for C8.   I'm sourcing most of my parts from Michael Percy, but will probably need to go to about 4 suppliers to get everything I want.  Chassis is coming from Welborne Labs and the kit should be to me next week.

-- Jim,

Can you confirm that a 1nF Multicap would be OK at C8?

I'd just like to check with you since the parts list specifies a 630Volt cap here, but both logic and LTSpice says that a much lower value would be OK. I get about 130v in LTSpice.

Did you select the 630V cap for its availability at Mouser?

  many thanks,
