Has anyone ever auditioned the tube amps by Bob Latino? He has 2 versions that he sells (in kit form or factory built), the 70 and the 120. There are some extremely positive reviews that are published, but I am curious if anyone here has had first hand experience with these products.

I have an ST-70 from Bob.  Actually, at one time, it was Bob's personal amp in his 2nd system.  I inquired about him building me one... as it turned out, all the options I wanted were already in one he said he wasn't really using much.  I absolutely love it!

I'm using it with Omega Super 5 XRS and a DeepHemp sub.  Louis Chochos (Omega) is how I found out about Bob.  There is great synergy between these.  Give Bob a call, he's usually available and very knowledgeable.

I usually run KT-88s in it.

I am using one of Bob's ST-70s that I put together from a kit.  I consider it to be an outstanding value.  I just plugged in a quad of GL reissue KT-66s.  I am also running the ST-70 with the cap upgrade, and a Mullard GZ34.  You will not be disappointed. Bob provides excellent customer service, before and after the sale.   :D

Make sure to get the Russian PIO output coupling caps, they make a substantial difference.  I also just finished replacing the other 4 orange drop caps with some sonicap gen II's and changed the resistors to carbon film.  Still waiting for it to break in before making any judgments.

Out of the box, the stock unit is great value and sounds very good.  I've had a lot of equipment go through my system, and the VTA ST70's are here to stay.

I just wanted to chime in in regards to ST-70's in general, it really is a great amp.  The variants Bob produces of the ST-70 are excellent from what I understand (I haven't had the chance to hear one yet myself).  I just recently completed a Triode ST-70 kit, which I chose to buy over Bob's design because I liked the slightly simpler case layout and having a cap board instead of the quad cap.  I may one day purchase Bob's VTA-120 kit, it looks awesome and there are times where the 60W would be nice to drive larger speakers.  I also like that his includes a triode / pentode switch, but it's fairly easy to add to an ST-70 without it.
