Fuse replacement for Dynaco 410
« on: 10 Jan 2010, 12:04 am »
Thought I would post this here in case I don't hear from the guru for awhile :)  Need to replace both outside fuses in my 410.  The red on light comes on and the fan also but no sound.  Both fuses have the black burn mark on them so i would guess they are gone.  But, I would guess i need fast-blow fuses since the only ones i have around the house are slo-blo :D

Correct??

The outside fuses are for speaker protection.  The largest you should use is a 5 amp fast blow.  That will allow all 200 watts to be realized.  This may or may not be appropriate for your specific speaker.  Check with the manufacturer.

Also, if I read your comments correctly your may have had a "hard blow", which may indicate a serious problem.  Normally when a speaker fuse blows from just being over driven the filament separates without leaving any residue on the glass.

Happy that a fuse was all that was needed.
