Is that like a memory player?  I heard one DAC with a memory player and that may be one of the reasons it sounded so good (well better than good :) )

James,
Would you share your impressions of the MG 1.7?

I have a pair on order but they tell me it will be weeks before they are in production.

They sounded absolutely superb at the show!

I talked to my dealer in Winnipeg and he claimed that one of their popular centre channels took 3 years to get into production after the CES show.....
Think i am just going to forget about it.

I didn't get a chance to hear them. How would you describe them, James.

Open, spacious and very coherent with good low level micro signal resolution.

Wow, that's a winner. I guess I missed out. Would it be ok to use a smaller amp (Bryston of course) to drive them?

Be carful with some of the sound cards though - I have had a hell of a time trying to get some of them to 'see' all of the normal and hi-res sampling rates (44/48/88/96/176/192).
james

Huh, I guess I haven't experienced that, although I don't have a 192 sample rate card to experiment with. I presently use an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card and it certainly recognizes (and displays) any rate you send it. I believe you use the same M-Audio card, but in the 192 version. They both use the same M-Audio Delta control panel and have similar specs (save for the 192 sample rate that I'm skeptical anyone can hear).

I've been using this card with foobar running the Windows Audio Session API exclusive mode (WASAPI) dll component that sends exact bitstream directly to the soundcard. I'm able to use WASAPI since switching to Windows 7 from XP. Quite a leap in audio performance. Gone are the annoying glitches since W7 offers much improved multi-tasking.

Hi bucek,

Yes I have the MAudio 192 and the Lynx
The Maudio 192 has problems with 176 for some reason but no issues with the Lynx. I am running Media Monkey on both with Windows XP.

There is an awesomely positive review of the Dynaudio Contour s1.4s (sans Bryston amplification)  forthcoming in Stereophile.  Apparently with their popularity they were nearly forgotten in favor of some "boutique" mfgs.  It seems that they have rediscovered what I already know.

BTW, Bryston and Dynaudio ROCKS! :thumb:

They are great at 4 ohm speakers, and with big drivers they can real shine.

|A good crossover will let lots of current through for nice low imp dips giving nice low freq extension. Bryston won't let up and will keep pounding the woofers uninhibited, unlike higher  imp designed speakers.

I wish I could afford big drivers! But even with my 2 8 inchers per side, the 4BSST really grips 'em!

Hi guys,
The dynaudio s3.4 is 4 ohms. My bryston 4bsst2 does not even break into a sweat at crazy volume. It is the best sounding amp I have tried. Used Plinius, Ayre and they can't match the bass I get in my system. Just sounds like the bass is deeper.
