Hi All.

I'm in the process of setting up vandersteen vcc-5 (part of an upgrade to all vandersteen fronts from B&W). I understand that there is a specific sound anchor stand for it. I also read in a thread that one can hang it over the TV from the ceiling!

I've an audio rack with 3 glass shelves (shroers & shroers lambda tv3). Would it be sonically bad to place the vcc-5 on the top glass shelf? Should I add some sort of isolation platform under the center and then place it on the glass shelf? My problem is that this audio rack would contain other things like DVR, DVD player, wii etc and this big vcc-5 might block it if I put it on a stand in front of the audio rack.

Thanks!

Its a sure NO/NO. The glass will vibrate & resonate. If you have no other choice, use all the isolation @ your disposal between spkr. & shelf.

get a little square of rubber slip stop, like used in cabinets to put glasses on, it comes in rolls, place under speaker, you wont even know its there

I think it's sonically bad to have a center channel. Long live 4.1

Thanks all for the advice and innovative solutions!  :)
Where can one buy a rubber slip stop. Home Depot / OSH maybe?

Vibrapods at $6 each. easy affective and inexpensive. If your are the frugal type hockey pucks with a little Blu tac.

I had my bookshelf mains in my 2.1 HT on the main floor on glass shelves for years.  I used blue tac to keep the speakers from vibrating on the glass surface.  Worked great.

Thanks all for the great ideas! This center (vcc-5) is 70 lbs! I think I'll need about a bunch of vibrapods to bear the weight.

Sponge rubber hockey pucks might do it too, if they are available in your area - I have used them under my 100lb sub...

I ordered vibrapods!

I also came across this:

Has anyone used this?

If you are using rubber under your centre speaker then it might be worth using it under all your speakers to make the sound the same from each. :thumb:
